    As you can see from the pictures above, it is time to travel again.  A week from today I will be landing or have already arrived in Cairo, Egypt.  This trip is one of the longest trips of the year that I will make solo (or without a team and a project happening).  I will try in this blog to explain what I will be doing in each of the areas so that you will know how to pray.  I would like to be able to tell you the dates of where I will be, however due to security issues of the trip, it is a "wise" choice to not. 

 

    Cairo, Egypt:  This trip has been postponed several times due to the political turmoil that has transpired in the country.  Right now the country is as quiet as it has been in a while, which makes it the best time to go.  We have a "Man of Peace" there that we have worked with several times in the past and has been a friend of the organization for a very long time and a friend/brother to me for approximately 9 years.  Many of you have prayed for him and his family over the last couple of years as the political climate in Egypt has been in flux.  During this trip, we will be planning several National to National Projects for the rest of this year and for next year.  We will also start looking at bringing another team in late 2015 or early 2016.  

    Ephesus Region, Turkey:  When God led us back to refocus on this region, a door was opened into this region and a new potential partner was given.  I will be spending my longest time in this area of the trip.  I will be meeting with our new partner, who has developed a evangelistic tool (similar to the evangicube) that is Islamic specific.  I will have the opportunity to use the tool in an outreach situation (what a team will be doing).   I will also be visiting several of the new house churches that have been developed in this region and also pray with and encourage many of the new believers in this region.  And then we will be doing a lot of the planning for a team that will be coming in 2015.

    Kuwait City, Kuwait:  I will be meeting with a local evangelistic church (approximately 1000 members) discussing a partnership between IC and them.  We will be learning about each others visions (their vision is to establish house churches throughout the area) and how IC's vision can assist them.  This is the portion of the trip that I have the most apprehension on.  The church has a person who is working with me on all the details of my travel into the country however communication has been very hit and miss so if I was to fly in today I would not know all the details of the trip there.  Please pray for this part of the trip.

    Salalah, Oman:  This is all about the final preparation of the team coming in June.  I will be meeting with the local leadership, churches and people we will be meeting with.  What each day will look like and then we will spend lots of time in prayer for what God is going to do.

 

    After almost 3 weeks I will be arriving back home, given the weather will cooperate and all my connections will be made.  As I travel this time, I am traveling into areas where the political situations are not the most calm and at any moment could change.  I know you are thinking what is new, right?  But this time there are more unknowns then usual and until I get off the plane back home, I won't be able to really take a deep breath, even though I know God has a plan and will take care of me.  So please pray for my family as I make this trip.  God is really going to do some great stuff on this trip and as always I am expectant and exciting about what God has called me to do.  

    Please also be in prayer for the work that has to be done prior to the trip and the immediate work that I will have to do when I get home.  The first 30 days upon arriving home are going to be a whirlwind of Ministry Partnership work and planning for the future in the region.   Again thank you for reading this blog and I would love to hear from you if you have comments or an encouraging word.  If you want to write to me while I am traveling, please do; it means so much.  I do promise to get back to you but internet could be a challenge this time.  God Bless Each of You!!!1

    

 



PROMISES: If God Keeps His Promises, Should Not I?

 

 



    Yesterday we were blessed to celebrate worship with some really good friends, confidants, mentors, examples and many more precious words we could use to describe them and every time we are with them the conversations that we have are always so wonderful and yet challenging.  I won't go into the details of the complete conversation, but our conversation led me on the way home to think about the promises of God in His Word.  This wonderful couple are truly an example of God's Promise to bring Godly people into your lives.
    Did you know that someone actually counted the promises and there are approximately 3573 promises in the Bible?  When I read that I was amazed and in awe.  I believe in a God who has made that many promises and has not broken one.  Amazing!!!  As I was thinking about this it also set a challenge to me.  If God has not broken a promise to me then I need to strive and try harder to be more like Him.  What about you?  Have you said something and not yet kept that promise? 
     In the midst of researching the number of promises in the Bible, I found the below article called, "The7 Promises Of God to Man," and I thought it was worth sharing with you.  I hope you find it as good as I did.

The 7 Promises Of God to Man

"We are all accustomed to promises. We are also accustomed to seeing them made and broken. Anyone who has lived for a number of years would certainly never lay claim to having kept every promise made. There are many reasons why this is true. Sometimes we forget, sometimes we are negligent, and sometimes it may be due to circumstances beyond our control.  A brokenhearted young lady will often say, "But he promised to marry me". And the answer comes back: "Yes, but I changed my mind". People do change their mind, and they do break their promises. What about the promises of God? How certain are they? The Apostle Paul, in writing about the promises of God to Abraham, addressed the church at Rome with these words: "For the promise that he should be heir of the world, was not to Abraham or his seed through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith . . . therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed" (Romans 4:13, 16). God's promise to Abraham was first spelled out in Genesis Chapter 12. It was repeated in Chapter 22. Verse 18 reads: "And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice".  Now a promise is of no more value than is the ability of the one who makes it to carry through. It also includes willingness to do so. God did carry through with Abraham. Paul points out in Galatians 3:16, that it was through Christ God intended to fulfill the promise to Abraham. Also in Acts 13:32-33, the Apostle says: "And we declare unto you glad tidings how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again." The contour of Jesus' life, while living on earth, was shaped by his trust in the power of the promises of God. When Jesus said: "I am that bread of life", John 6:48, "I am the light of the world", John 8:12, "I am the resurrection and the life." John 11:25, He did so fully realizing that He had been empowered with this right by the Father who had promised to raise Him from the grave. There were more than 500 brethren at one time who bore witness to the fulfillment of this promise according to I Corinthians 15:1-6.

What can be said about God's promises to us?

1. He has promised to supply every need we have. The Bible says: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus". That's Phillipians 4:19. Now notice, God has obligated Himself only to the extent of our needs. That would include food, clothing, shelter, companionship, love, and salvation thru Jesus Christ. It would not include the multiplicity of luxuries that we have come to think of as needs.
2. God has promised that His grace is sufficient for us. (II Corinthians 12:9). in fact, He has made provision for our salvation by His grace through faith. Read Ephesians 2:8. It is through an obedient faith that we have access into the grace of God according to Romans 5:2.
3. God has promised that His children will not be overtaken with temptation. Instead, He assures us that a way of escape will be provided. This promise is recorded in I Corinthians 10:13. Jude wrote: "Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present your faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy" (Jude v 24). Darius, King of the Medes, said to Daniel, "Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee" (Daniel 6:16). He did deliver Daniel from the den of lions.
4. God has promised us victory over death. He first resurrected Jesus by way of assuring our resurrection. Peter said: "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all witnesses" (Acts 2:32). Paul wrote to the Corinthians: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:3,4). Later on he adds: "but thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (I Corinthians 15:57).
5. God has promised that all things work together for good to those who love and serve Him faithfully (Romans 8:28). It may be difficult for us to see and understand how this is accomplished at times, but God has promised it, and He will deliver.
6. God has promised that those who believe in Jesus and are baptized for the forgiveness of sins will be saved. (Read Mark 16:16 and Acts 2:38).
7. God has promised His people eternal life (John 10:27,28). In closing, let me appeal to you to live so that the promises of God will be yours. "

Life's Decision

 

 

LIFE’S DECISIONS

    Sorry for the delay in posting on the blog in a few weeks.  Life sometimes makes us busier than we really think are necessary and time just gets away from us.  Since I was a very young person, and I do mean a young person I have always asked and been asked  the question of when animals die to they go to Heaven?  Will they be there when we get there?  I have heard many answers to this question and many different opinions. 

    In “The Complete Bible Answer Book,” by Hank Hanegraaff,  he writes this:

 

    “Scripture does not conclusively tell us whether our pets will make it to heaven. However, the Bible does provide us with some significant clues regarding whether or not animals will inhabit the new heaven and the new earth.

    First, animals populated the Garden of Eden. Thus, there is a precedent for believing that animals will populate Eden Restored as well. Animals are among God’s most creative creations. Thus, it would seem incredible that he would banish such wonders in heaven.

    Furthermore, while we cannot say for certain that the pets we enjoy today will be “resurrected” in eternity, I am not willing to preclude the possibility. Some of the keenest thinkers from C. S. Lewis to Peter Kreeft are not only convinced that animals in general but that pets in particular will be restored in the resurrection. If God resurrected our pets, it would be in total keeping with his overwhelming grace and goodness.

    Finally, the Scriptures from first to last suggest that animals have souls. Both Moses in Genesis and John in Revelation communicate that the Creator endowed animals with souls. In the original languages of Genesis 1:20 and Revelation 8:9, nephesh and psyche respectively refer to the essence of life or soul. Not until Descartes and Hobbes and the Enlightenment did people think otherwise about animals. However, because the soul of an animal is qualitatively different from the soul of a human there is reasonable doubt that it can survive the death of its body. One thing is certain: Scripture provides us with sufficient precedence for believing that animals will inhabit the new heaven and new earth. In the words of Isaiah: “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them” (Isaiah 11:6).”

    So I think I will hold onto the above writing and especially the writing in Isaiah.  I am sure that you are wondering why I have made this my blog and why I am writing this.  My promise in writing this blog was first to be transparent of the joys and heartaches that we have in our life, so that you would know us better and be able to walk this road with us.   And today we faced the reality that a big part of family we hadto say good bye to...way, way too early.  Loyal, loving, patient, and wonderful. 

    Throughout my life I have been blessed to have some really WONDERFUL pets.  During the near 30 years of marriage to Jeannine, we have been and still are blessed with great animal companions in our marriage and in the lives of our children.   Nothing is more true than with our dog, Rerun.   He was old  for a dog and became riddled with tumors.  Life’s decisions for us was a very tough decision and I pray that what is written above is true, because I really want him to be in Heaven with us because, though we are crying; he is no longer here and in pain today.  We love you Rerun.
